Bulk Wax Removing from 3D Printed Parts – Promising Test Results

Published on 22.04.2015
There are large amounts of bulk of the wax that need to be removed from parts in 3D-printing industry post processing.

On some printer technologies, wax is used to support the part during printing and also to separate it from the printing plate. Ultrasonics is traditionally used for removing of wax residues from part surfaces, when they come out of the oven, where bulk wax melts at about 60°C. The oven treatment can take up to 2 hours, which reduces production capacity especially with parts with larger geometry.

FinnSonic and industrial measurement expert Vaisala created new processes for bulk wax removing. Wax was removed from the parts within 7 minutes, instead of the earlier 30 minutes. For more information, please contact us.
